First Massachusetts REC trades through Spectron

01 Feb 10

Spectron Environmental is pleased to announce it has brokered the first ever Massachusetts REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) futures trade.

The trade was for 80 Massachusetts vintage 2009 REC CCFE futures contracts (representing 8,000 MA Class 1 RECs). The price and the names of counterparties involved in the trade are to be kept confidential.

The REC trade is the latest in a long line of market firsts for Spectron Environmental. Some of the landmark green market trades Spectron Environmental has brokered include: the first California Carbon option in the US, the first OTC REC option in the US; the first Ohio REC; the first 2012 OTC CO2 trade in Europe; the first OTC CO2 option settled against the CCX; the first National Green-E Wind REC option; the first Delaware Solar REC; and the first “clean” (emissions-related) spark spread in Europe.

Spectron was awarded the 2009 Silver Award for Excellence in Renewables by Energy Business, the 2009 Silver Award for Excellence in Emission Markets by Energy Business, the 2009 Broker of the Year award by New Economy magazine and the 2009 Broker of the Year award by Energy Business.
