Today it officially launched its dedicated soft commodities and agricultural products desk, which covers the sugar, wheat, coffee, cocoa, corn and soybean swaps and options markets.
The desk, which is based in London but is covering US and European time zones, has already concluded a number of trades during its build-up phase, which started late last year.
“It is a natural progression for us to include softs brokering as part of our full service offering, as many of the companies that already trade energy and environmental products through us also trade softs,” said Drew Stephens, Managing Director of Spectron Group. “We are excited to be entering these markets with such a focused and enthusiastic team and are confident of adding real value.”
“The solid experience of our desk brokers backed up by Spectron’s significant resource and reputation should be a winning formula,” said Darren Potter, Head of Soft Commodities at Spectron. “We are aiming to offer clients the absolute highest levels of service and have already had great feedback from market players, concluding numerous deals; we are very much looking forward to boosting our profile over the coming months.”
Spectron, which was named Broker of the Year in the 2007 and 2008 Energy Business awards, operates a global wholesale marketplace for energy and commodities from its offices in London, Singapore, Frankfurt and across the US. Markets covered include: natural gas, electricity, oil, coal, metals, weather derivatives, petroleum products, nuclear fuels, emissions and environmental products.
