Emissions are any product of the burning of fuels. Emissions currently regulated by the EPA include SO2 and NOx, with mercury soon to be added. Voluntary markets exist for other pollutants, including CO2. The EPA regulates emissions, and has reduced emissions by as much as 33% annually since the 1970s.
